Prof. Tadeusz Szumiata
Tadeusz Szumiata earned his M.Sc. in solid state physics from the University of Warsaw in 1994 and his Ph.D. (2002) from the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. Following postdoctoral research at the University of Sheffield (UK) and the University of Košice (Slovakia), he became Associate Professor and Head of the Physics Department at the Casimir Pulaski University of Radom, Poland. His primary research activities center on Mössbauer spectrometry and magnetic characterization techniques applied to nanomaterials, multiferroic compounds, metal-organic chemistry, defectoscopy, and environmental monitoring. He was a co-founder and Vice President of the Polish Society of Mössbauer Spectroscopy and an active member of Le Groupe Francophone de Spectrométrie Mössbauer (GFSM). He has served on international scientific committees for major field events, including the International Symposium on the Industrial Applications of the Mössbauer Effect (ISIAME 2022 & ISIAME 2024), and was invited as a Visiting Professor at Université Catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain, Belgium) in 2024 to lecture on Mössbauer spectrometry applications in 3D-printed steel diagnostics and environmental science.
Alongside his Mössbauer Spectroscopy research, prof. Szumiata is a leading specialist in fundamental and industrial mass metrology. He has collaborated extensively with the Central Office of Measures in Warsaw (GUM), served as Poland’s first technical delegate to BIPM (Sèvres) following the SI redefinition, and acts as an expert reviewer for EURAMET. His industrial R&D achievements include key contributions to the commercial release of the world’s first NANO mass comparator with RADWAG as well as balance-based magnetic susceptometers. He is an elected member of the Academy of Engineering in Poland (AIP).
